REACH - Innovation at RSNA Meeting

At last week's meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), there was an amazing amount of excitement in the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) demonstration area - the proving grounds where the latest new technology from leading academic institutions and vendors is often unveiled.

This year a team from Johns Hopkins demonstrated an exciting new software application that allowed a radiologist to consult with a referring provider in real-time using a tablet as the communication device.  This new tool called REACH (Radiologists Engaging And Collaborating in Healthcare) drew large crowds who observed two physicians easily sharing and interacting with medical images while at the same time communicating with the tablet's on-board video camera and via voice in real time.
